“God has taught me that it is not my works or accomplishments, but Him and His will alone. He will work through me however He wants.”
– Sarah Ray
Our Brazil Team Truth has had a wonderful experience while being in country. This past week, we had the opportunity to go to the Lifeshape Conference, serve at Nos Teus Bracos church, and stay at different host homes. Through this experience, we have not only grown closer together, but have also grown closer to God. Our team has been challenged mentally, physically, spiritually, and emotionally, but we have stayed faithful to what was needed from us.
The Lifeshape Conference was an amazing experience. A previous week of hard work behind us, we were able to tune in and listen to great speakers. It was very surreal to hear worship in Portuguese and to listen to different speakers present the Word of God in Portuguese as well. The second night of the conference, we had Fellows and Residents lead worship, and it was so beautiful to watch as two different cultures came together singing praises to the Lord despite the language barrier. The beauty of God was evident!
After the conference weekend, we had the opportunity to serve a great church, Nos Tues Bracos. There, we painted, organized, helped in the kitchen, and cleaned. Our team has had a great time bonding together. There was free time to be able to play games, talk, and to really get to know one another better. We have loved getting to know more Lifeshape students. We were able to have a few more of them join our team, so getting to know them has been such a joy. This church has been so wonderful to us, and we have loved the privilege to serve alongside them as they reach the community around them better.
Our team has grown, learned, and been challenged this week as we have been blessed to have families from the church host us in their homes. It is such a blessing to have people who love the Lord want to love us and have us in their homes. Being in host homes has been a wonderful experience. We have learned so much more about Brazilian culture and how different they function in their day-to-day lives. Each family has been so welcoming and accommodating to us. God is really being shown through these families willing to take in people they do not know and love us. They have really taught us what true hospitality looks like.
