This week I had the privilege and great honor of traveling with Dan Cathy, president of Chick-fil-A and son of founder Truett Cathy, throughout the northeastern Chick-fil-A region to four different Chick-fil-A stores, two of which were having their grand openings. I have worked in a Chick-fil-A Dwarf House Unit, I have worked for four summers with WinShape Camps, and now have worked for nearly two years with IMPACT 360. Chick-fil-A is in my veins.

The chance to travel with Dan and see the way he ‘embodies the values’ of serving others, going the ‘second mile’, and treating each customer or fellow Chick-fil-A team member with dignity and respect was eye-opening—and absolutely inspiring. Dan is currently trying to push all of Chick-fil-A and its team members to natually go the second mile—an initiative he calls “2M2N—Second Mile, Second Nature”. This is a calling that all Christ-followers should be living up to. To see a CEO of a company like Chick-fil-A sleep outside in 20 degree weather, pick up trash, and fly his own private jet to help serve the ones that are travelling with him is obviously over the top—exactly where Christ wants us to be in regard to serving others. The least we can do as (mostly) normal people is do the same for the people in our lives.
