Before I began my experience at Impact 360, I had a hardened heart. I had gone through some difficult friendships before Impact, and it made me develop a lot of trust issues. I loved the Lord, and I have always loved caring for others, but it was very difficult for me to let people love me because of my trust in friendships. I would question why I cared more for others than they cared for me.

The first week at impact, there was this weird “light” about the place that I had never seen growing up on the mission field. I immediately saw a community that was nurtured by their love for Jesus. I had already learned that being vulnerable is okay, and as believers, we are meant to help one another with our burdens.

When I went on my International trip to South Africa. Getting to experience new friendships and meet people who loved the Lord was truly a gift. A memory that sticks out to me is when I became close to one of my closest friends. We were in the ocean talking about the beauty of God’s creation and the gift of being where we were. I truly could see God’s hand on my life in bringing me someone who loves me so well and sees me as a child of God. I learned on this trip that when Jesus says let the little children come to me, He sees us all as little children. He just wants us for our hearts, and that is true love that I can receive.

I will be going to university next. I want to be a teacher and study education. I desire to do missions and be a teacher somewhere. I plan on making disciples by teaching the next generation about the truth of the Gospel.

One thing that I would say to people who helped support me is that, compared to the beginning of the year to now, I truly have changed and grown more into who God wants me to be. I would say thank you because I have truly seen God work in my life, and by bringing me friendships that nourish my soul and honor Him. And most of all, my heart has been softened and renewed.
