The Lord has been working in my life and in the lives of those around me in ways I never expected.
It has been an honor and privilege to witness Him working in the lives of my peers. One story that has stood out to me the most this year is seeing how the Lord has brought things full circle, allowing me to use the tools, knowledge, and resources I have gained to equip my dad to live on mission.
In preparation for our trip to Utah and the evangelism that would take place there, we devoted a week to learning and training on how to engage with members of the LDS Church effectively and respectfully. From Brett Kunkle we learned how to support our conversations with evidence, which topics to bring up, and which topics to avoid. We studied and memorized their scriptures, examined the history of their faith, and learned how their beliefs have changed over the years.
Once we arrived in Utah, we put these skills into practice by touring Temple Square, engaging in evangelism at BYU, and going door to door at Snow College. Overall, it was an incredibly impactful and formative experience.
That is why I was so moved when my dad called me and shared that a friend of his had been praying for an opportunity to share his faith. Later that same week, a group of Mormon missionaries knocked on his door and asked if they could have a conversation about Jesus Christ. They then invited him to visit their church and ask more questions. My dad and this friend are going to the LDS church tonight to have these conversations.
My dad reached out to me, and I had the opportunity to share with him everything we have been learning.
I got to equip him with Scripture, resources, and practical tools to help him engage in meaningful gospel conversations with members of the LDS Church back home, just as we had done in Utah.
The Lord is moving and active, and I am astonished and in awe of the fact that we get to participate in His work in our everyday lives if we are simply willing.
