Even in a simple question, God can be at work.
Recently, we got to embark on a adventure as a class that pushed us out of our comfort zones. We got the opportunity to step into the calling of Matthew 28:19, to share the gospel with students at Auburn University, close to home.
My evangelism partner and I stepped on to the campus of Auburn, not feeling very confident. But the Lord put a person in our path who identified as Agnostic and had never even heard of Jesus before. We quickly got to use our Colombo Questions, asking him “What is the meaning of life?”, “What do you mean by that?”, and “What made you come to that conclusion?” He had never been told the price that Jesus paid. We shared the Gospel with him and challenged him intellectually, and he took the Gospel Tract home with him.
When he got up from the table, that Auburn Student had gone from from having never thought about his eternity to knowing the true Gospel and considering who Jesus was.
God taught me this week that there are people in our own country that have never heard the Gospel. We got to live out Jesus’s words from Acts 1:8. The Lord moved, not only in that conversation, but also in the hearts of my evangelism partner and I. He showed us that the Church is commanded to go and make disciples of all nations.
I will respond to this by living a life of spirit empowered influence and by being open to spiritual conversations in my day to day life. People’s eternal life could be at stake, and the Lord is using me and many others to go out and share the Gospel with them. The Lord is at work here in Class 21 and I am so excited to see all that He does over the next 9 months!
