This past weekend was the manhood retreat. As it came close to time, the ladies said goodbye to the men and then saw them off. Before they left each lady drew a name out of a cup, picking a man to pray for as he embarked on this transformation. We also made sure to pray for them and fast from something so that whenever we were tempted break our fast, we would stop and pray. We thought the weekend would be amazing, but we underestimated just how much we would miss the men. When praying for them we would get so excited about what God was doing in their lives and the adventures they were having. Because of this, we decided to show them how much they mean to us by choreographing a dance to the famous song I’ll Make a Man Out of You in the Disney film Mulan. Though we realized they were already men, but we wanted them to be our men. We were so proud to call them our brothers in Christ! Their time away really solidified Ezekiel 18:5, 9 in our hearts and helped us to understand and respect our men even more. “Suppose there is a righteous man who does what is just and right…He follows my decrees and faithfully keeps my laws. That man is righteous; he will surely live, declares the Sovereign Lord.”
