When I was in Utah, I experienced the Holy Spirit speaking through me to effectively share the Gospel with a non-believer. While evangelizing at Snow College, my partner Rachel and I had a spiritual conversation with a Mormon student who was actively questioning her faith. She quickly shared doubts and concerns about the LDS faith, and Rachel and I helped her see that those doubts were valid, explaining how the Book of Mormon contradicts the Bible and is not the true Word of God.
After addressing her doubts, I asked what was keeping her from embracing the Christian faith. She said she had questions about Christianity and began asking Rachel and me deep questions about our beliefs. This conversation lasted two and a half hours. Before we had to leave, I asked if we could walk her through a gospel guide to help her better understand the true Gospel and what it means to be saved. She was very open and intrigued by the guide.
While going through it, I asked if she felt she was walking in God’s strength or her own. She quickly replied that she was relying on her own strength but wanted to walk with God. This gave us the opportunity to pray and let her invite God into her life.
She openly accepted the prayer and afterward said, “I felt a peace come over me and a lot of shame and guilt lift from my shoulders.”
At that moment, Rachel and I knew it was a genuine conversion from the Lord, and I am so thankful to have witnessed Him working to draw someone to Himself. This experience opened my eyes to how desperate the world is for truth and how many are searching for it. We just need to be bold and proclaim the truth we have that they are seeking.
