Seen, known, and loved by the gospel. – Anaya Broom

Student Blog Written By: Anaya Broom, Fellows

When I first arrived on campus at Impact 360, I was extremely overwhelmed. There were so many faces, and people, and names. I was not sure that I would fit in, and I was scared I wouldn’t make friends…

Basically, the standard experience with any new place and a new chapter in life.

As I stand on the threshold of commissioning nine months later, I can truthfully say that I have never felt so seen or so loved in my life. I have one hundred new friends that I cherish deeply, and I know they cherish me too.

I know the names of every Fellow in my class, and each of them knows mine. I didn’t think that it was possible to love this deeply or to be loved this much. I was sure that in a group of young leaders this big, I would have to do something special to be noticed. I was wrong. For the first time, I now know that all I have to be is exactly how God created me to be.

I can be vulnerable. I can be authentic. I can be courageous. Just by being myself, I was so incredibly seen and loved by a community of believers that loved like Jesus.

My friends are teaching me how to let people love me and how to love others well through the gospel. I specifically remember a conversation on a walk with one of my suite mates. I was stressed about a situation in my life, and instead of trying to ‘fix me’ or provide the perfect solution, she simply asked, “How have you been able to apply the gospel to this situation?”

At Impact, we learn that the Gospel is not just for the unreached. It’s not just for people who don’t know Jesus yet. The Gospel is for the broken, the healing, the hurting, the lost, the lonely. The Gospel is for the confident, the victor, the overachiever, the perfectionist. The Gospel is for all of us, and we need it every single day.

Every day I get to wake up and remind myself that I am a child of The King, and I get to live this day in pursuit of His kingdom for His glory and not mine.

Impact has taught me that evangelism is a lifestyle. It’s something that we must embody for ourselves and our communities, and take with us out into the world.

I am so grateful to Impact and to everyone who has supported class twenty through prayer and support. Thank you for letting God use you to make an impact on the next generation of leaders who are following His call.

I am leaving more equipped to stand firm against the tidal wave of secular culture that I will face, by better understanding the truth of who God is and who He created me to be.
